Has anyone checked out the gaming monitors at JB Hi-Fi lately? I was just in the store and noticed they have a bunch of models on display, including some budget options under $300. Saw a few with 165Hz and even some with IPS panels. Has anyone tried one of these for actual gaming? Are they any good for the price, or should I be looking somewhere else for the best deals?

Would love to hear experiences or recommendations! I’m thinking about upgrading from my old 60Hz monitor and hoping not to break the bank.

I actually checked out some of those JB Hi-Fi monitors myself recently! The 165Hz IPS ones caught my eye too. From what I’ve read and seen in person, the on-screen motion is WAY smoother than 60Hz, and IPS panels have way better colors and viewing angles for the price. That said, I’d definitely google the exact model number because some are rebranded panels you might find cheaper elsewhere (like from Kogan or Umart). But if you want to see them before you buy and avoid shipping hassle, JB’s actually not bad price-wise on sale weekends. If you see a model you like, jot down the specs and compare online first-sometimes there’s a surprise deal! Upgrading from 60Hz is a total game changer, honestly.

One quick tip: check the warranty terms at JB Hi-Fi versus online stores-sometimes in-store makes returns and exchanges much easier if you spot dead pixels or issues out of the box. If you game in darker rooms, pay attention to backlight bleed on IPS panels, as quality can vary even between units of the same model. Otherwise, for under $300, those 165Hz options are solid for entry-level competitive gaming.
